In the spring of 2017, Mrs. Best's third grade students researched what would be needed to raise chickens at our school. We researched chicken care, needs, and breeds. We designed coops and yards and shared our information with others.
In June, we were able to purchase the coop with funds from a grant and third and fourth grade fundraisers.
On September 1st, our chicks arrived!
Waiting patiently for the chicks to come out. By October our chicks were ready to explore their outside yard.
On November 7th, we "banded" our chickens. Each chicken can now be identified by a color band and has been given a name. Meet our Chickens!
November 10... Temperatures start to drop. Our chickens love the sun, just not sure they want to venture out.
