My name is Ross Haney and I have served as the Magistrate of Nicholas County's 5th District since January of 2023.
I have lived in this district almost all of my life with the exception of the two years I moved to western Kentucky for work. I now serve as the Elementary School Music Teacher of our local school district where I try my best to make a positive impact on our students. I love my job and getting to work with the children of Nicholas County. I truly believe our children are the future of our community, and we must invest in them and give them a reason to stay here.
Faith is a big part of mine and my family's life. We attend the Carlisle Presbyterian Church where I am a member of the Session and participate actively in the music ministry.
I come from a family of local business owners. My parents spent years of my childhood running Memories and More - a Carlisle photography business - and my grandmother Nancye Lyons was a local tax preparer who dedicated her life to helping people. I do my best to always shop local and support Nicholas County's people whenever I can.
As a magistrate, I do my best to make the right decision no matter what others may think. I have never been one who simply goes with the crowd. I have always stood up for what I have believed is right, even in the face of opposition.
If you ever have any questions about the work of the Nicholas County Fiscal Court, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!
