2025-2026 Season
2025-2026 Season
CIF Results
Attention Athletes! If you or your younger siblings are interested in getting some summer conditioning done, Coaches April and Dylan will be hosting a couple summer camps in June. This is a great opporunity to stay fresh after the season, but also work on your swimming in a different environment. If you felt like your stroke, dives, or turns needed more practice, then this camp would be a great spot for you. You can register HERE.
Additionally, we are in need of a lifeguard for these camps. If you are already a certificated lifeguard and are interested in working the camps, you can let us know by sending Coach Dylan an email with your availability. (dparry@riversideunified.org).

CLOVIS: It is never easy to compete at a championship level, but to do so and succeed week after week after week takes a special competitor and person. It comes as no surprise that Alyssa Bian was not only able to take that task and succeed at this last week’s CIF State Swimming Championship in Fresno, California.
Representing ML King for the third year in a row at the biggest meet for California high school swimming, Bian entered the challenging 200 free and 100 fly combo knowing she would have to swim at her best to make it into the finals. With a positive attitude and hanging on to her taper by a thread, Bian didn’t take out her 200 like she usually does and missed the finals by just one spot.
Knowing her strongest and best event was just an hour later, she pushed aside the event results and swam just off her season best set just the week before at CIF Finals. Bian took it out hard and easily qualified against a field that boasted the top 100 fly swimmers in the country.
Heading into finals the next day, Alyssa got to the pool early to focus and prepare. Maintaining her positive spirit and swimming next to her future teammate at Cornell, Alyssa took the race out fast and finished a solid 13th.
“This was my third time going to State,” Alyssa said, “so it was much easier to not focus on the quality of the other swimmers and just relax and enjoy myself.”
I am incredibly proud of Alyssa. Year after year, she pushes herself to succeed and keep her expectations high. To culminate her senior year beating her record once again and swimming some incredibly fast times week after week is no small feat. I don’t think people really understand what it takes to compete at this level. Swimmers train year round and take just about two weeks off a year. Alyssa not only dedicates herself to this, but holds herself to the same rigor in the classroom. She is a State Champ to me!

If you need a daily dose of positivity and validation that everything is going to be OK, spend some time with Gabe. Our swimmer walks into life happy, joyful, and energized. He never misses a chance to give someone a friendly hello and tell them about how life is going well. When Gabe first started swimming just over a month ago, he couldn’t make it across the pool. Now, he is able to swim an entire length without stopping and enjoying the experience along the way. I can’t wait to see how he progresses as the season goes on and his coaches and teammates couldn’t be happier to have him as a part of our program. Although cliche, Gabe is a pleasant reminder to always see what is going well rather than what may be bogging us down. I have never walked away from an experience with Gabe without a smile on my face and a refreshed frame of mind and spirit. We all need a Gabe in our life and our school and community is blessed to have him!

Alyssa Bian defines excellence in all walks of life. While her success in the pool—as a school record holder, League Champion, and State Finalist—has brought her coaches and teammates great joy, her impact goes far deeper. What truly makes Alyssa a ‘Champion of Character’ is her kindness, her commitment to her academic growth, and her quiet, steady confidence.
She is more than a leader who hopes others will follow; she stands for what is right. As her teacher and others on campus have noted, she consistently masters the ‘little things’ that lead to big results in her writing and assessments. Currently, Alyssa is demonstrating true advocacy through a Civics Project aimed at creating campus change, bravely engaging with administrators and city leaders, and sharing her vision on our daily broadcast of Good Day MLK. Her joyful personality shines through everything she does, ensuring her legacy at King will extend well beyond the pool deck. We look forward to two more years of watching Alyssa succeed, lead, and support our community.”

Logan Brown incorporates the core values of sportsmanship and integrity that define a true Character Counts athlete. Balancing the demands of high school swimming with his club water polo schedule is a feat of discipline, yet Logan handles this workload while maintaining excellence in the most challenging academic courses. What truly sets Logan apart is his moral compass. He is a young man motivated by a deep-seated desire to do what is right, demonstrating a level of maturity and respect that earns him the admiration of coaches and peers alike. Logan is unassuming in his ways, but his efforts to stay the course and work to improve have paid off for him as a competitor for our program. He has remained grounded and improved greatly over the past two years moving up the ranks as one of our top League and CIF athletes. With his experience and commitment to success, we expect great things from Logan Brown this season and we are proud that he is committed to being a well-rounded athlete and individual.

Happy Friday!
We have had a solid first week and it's been nice to get back in the pool to swim. Our first swim meet is just over a month away and starting now will certainly help you feel a little stronger (especially if you have been out of the water) for competition.
For now, water polo is awaiting their schedule for next week's CIF matches.

Hello!
Welcome to the 2025-26 Martin Luther King High School's swim season. We are currently in a bit of a waiting period for when we know practice will start, but we anticipate getting in the water around the first week of February. For now, please plan to practice from 3:30-5:30 (we may be able to get in earlier or use 6th period time for dryland) depending on the day. We will integrate morning workouts as our schedule becomes more available.
I have updated our swim meet schedule for the season ahead. Things may change and we may add in one more invitational if possible. I will do my best to update once or twice a week, so please make sure you are opening up your Parent Square notifications.
In the meantime, please make sure your physicals, insurance, and confirmation message is up to date and you are cleared for the season. I look forward to seeing you very soon!
