Receive The Promised Eternal Salvation

In the first reading, we see that the people were given the Old Covenant of the Law through Moses. They received the forgiveness of sins through the blood of the sacrificed animal.
The second reading shows that we have the New Covenant of grace through Christ.
It is because of the perfect sacrifice of Christ’s Body and Blood that we receive the salvation which God our Father promised to our forefathers in the Old Testament.
Today’s gospel highlights Jesus’ command to celebrate the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, to eat His Body and drink His Blood.
While He was on earth, He said, ‘I tell you most solemnly, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will not have life in you.’ (John 6:53)
Without the Body and Blood of Christ, our soul has no life in it. But through His Body and Blood, we receive our blessed hope, the assurance of salvation.
As we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi, let us be thankful that we are able to receive the promised eternal salvation.
