18 May 2014 ( 5th Sunday of Easter )

[Acts 6:1-7] [1 Peter 2:4-9] [John 14:1-12]

In his "farewell address" to his disciples, Jesus told them that he was going ahead of them to heaven, to prepare a place for them. When he said "in my Father's house there are many dwelling places", he was assuring them that there's plenty of room in heaven for everyone. But being the literal people that they were, they thought of heaven more as a physical location. They wanted a road-map to show them how to get to heaven. Jesus was trying to tell them you don't need a road map. I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. I am your roadmap! Even as we go through our daily grind, let us always remember that our life on earth is just a passing phase. We are now clothed in flesh and blood and living under the rule of law. Jesus wants to bring us up to a higher plane of existence where we are governed only by the rule of love. In the Father's house we all be living in perpetual peace and harmony in the presence of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
