What a great beginning of the school year with these fabulous students!
This year, 6th graders will be working exclusively with storytelling as a guide to develop listening comprehension skills, reading comprehension, writing skills, and the understanding and use of grammatical features both in oral and written form. We started in August with warm up games and a story that reviewed concepts learned last year . We continued by introducing a new story with new vocabulario and grammatical content. Students participated with great enthusiasm!
This is the structure we followed in each lesson..
We start by learning the basic vocabulary that will appear in the story and that will assure student's comprehension. We learn by associating actions to words or words to drawings so the use of english is not necessary.
Students act out the story that the teachers narrates ...
After the oral section is complete. We move into reading, questions, and studying the grammatical features contained in the story.
One of the expectations for sixth graders this year is to be able to conjugate regular verbs in present tense as well as learn a few irregulars.
