What a wonderful start to español with these motivated and fabulous students! We kicked off the year with review games to warm up and refresh what we had learned previously. Soon after, we jumped right into our first 5th-grade lesson…
MANDATOS ( COMMANDS I)
We began 5th-grade español with commands as the main tool to introduce and reinforce the basics of the language. Students practiced synchronizing the listening of a command with the corresponding action, allowing them to connect meaning directly to movement. Through this method, they learned a wide variety of actions while avoiding the need for translation into English—truly learning by doing!
ESTUDIANTES EN ACCIÓN!
Besides working with listening and acting out commands, we work with listening and drawing commands.
Rather than memorizing lists of words, students worked by doing and internalizing, which imitates the way we learn our mother language.
Students participated with great enthusiasm.
Once students were able to understand orally. We moved into reading and writing commands.
