We celebrated Hispanic / Latinx Heritage Month through several different Performing Arts class activities. Fourth grade activities included:
Tito Puente: Google Doodle
Tito Puente: Mambo King Book
Oye Como Va:
Cup Game (See Video)
Al Citron
The fourth graders learned a multi-part accompaniment to go with a song called "The Elephant." The challenge of a song like this is learning how to maintain your own part as a part of an ensemble.
In honor of Halloween, the fourth graders explored the story and music for The Sorcerer's Apprentice by Paul Dukas. In the pictures below, you can see the fourth graders working in small groups to act out the story with a narrator. To learn even more about this piece of music we watched parts of two different video versions of the song; the Walt Disney version of the song from the movie "Fantasia, and an orchestral version.
On Spark Night, students and their families participated in several different activities using hand drums.
