Mr. Shima has been teaching PreK-12 students for 20+ years . Prior to that, he spent eight years in the corporate sector working for foreign and Fortune 500 companies in business development, marketing, and advertising. In addition, Mr. Shima has over 30 years in theater, dance, and music education experience. He was a national clinician, presenting workshops at national educator conventions, universities, and school districts on how to effectively integrate music, movement, and theatrics with academic subjects. He is always excited to share his knowledge with his students to equip them for college and career.

Theater Bio

(Director/Choreographer/Actor) Chris brings over 30 years of theater experience with him from his home city of Los Angeles. He has performed in, directed, or choreographed over 30 shows in his lifetime including 42nd St., Anything Goes, West Side Story, Barnum, A Funny Thing Happened...Forum, Joseph And The...Dreamcoat, Damn Yankees, Flapper, Wipeout, Annie Get Your Gun, Mamma Mia! and many more. In addition, Chris has been teaching Lindy Hop Swing for over 20 years with his wife. He founded the Hermosa Beach Youth Ballroom Dance Team with Dancing With The Stars professionals Jonathan Roberts and Anna Trebunskaya in 2010. He’s an avid ukulele player and founded a popular youth ukulele program consisting over 50 kids ages 6-10.
