Middle School Art
I am a daughter of an artist. My father was a bohemian in the 20s in Paris and I was a hippie in New York City in the 60s. The apple truly doesn't fall far from the tree. While I was in high school I also attended the very famous Art Students League in the city. It is where many famous artists honed their art skills. I then went off to New Paltz in upstate New York, the art school and teacher's education school of the well known SUNY system - State University of New York. I graduated with a degree in education - major in Art. And then went on to get a Master's in education. My first teaching position was teaching art in the elementary school in NY and so now I'm come full circle...teaching art once again. Well one really doesn't "teach art" one experiences it. You create the environment for kids to discover themselves through art expression. It's a living, breathing, experiential happening. Sure there are techniques to learn, but after that - let them fly.
