Health and Driver Education

Meet the Teacher

My name is Michelle Schultz and this is my 10th year of teaching!

I graduated from Illinois State University. I received a BS in Health Education and a minor in Family Consumer Sciences: Nutrition, Wellness and Hospitality. Also, an endorsement in Social Sciences.

I went back to school and received an endorsement and certification in Driver Education.

I currently teach 7th grade Health Education, HS Health Education and Driver Education. I am also the HS Student Council Sponsor.

Things to know.......

Health Education is a semester class. Health Education is required for graduation. You also must receive a passing grade.

Driver Education is a semester class. You will take the classroom portion first. Once the student passes the classroom portion, they will move onto the lab portion (behind the wheel). It is not guaranteed the student will complete driving hours in a semester. BTW will usually take 2 semesters. The student will also need to hold their IP (instruction permit) for 9 months before obtaining their license.

Teaching PHILOSOPHY

I think that it is important for students to have a positive and professional role model in their lives. Each child deserves an adult who won't give up on them. I feel that it is important to encourage students to remain motivated during the learning process. It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate and intelligent teacher, who will make a positive contribution to Ridgeview.

I strongly believe that my job as an educator is to help each and every child become self-directed, motivated, and life-long learners. Each and every student has something to contribute, adding value and character in their own way.
