Welcome back, Eagles! We hope everyone had a restful summer break. Our Back-to-School Night, held on July 20th, was a definite success, with middle and high school students filling every corner of our campus, as well as the 300+ elementary students eager to tackle the new year. Eager faces beamed as students, old and new, received their schedules, locker assignments, and got to meet their new teachers.
Every school year comes with new beginnings, whether that is new staff, new students, or new events—all necessary to make the school year flow smoothly. Several incoming staff members new to Ridgeline are ready to give students an education that will last beyond the classroom, and into the real world. New students and families are always a joy to have, giving them the chance to experience Ridgeline for the first time and find their place in our events, athletics, and trips.
As always, the safety of our students is vital when it comes to back-to-school. Mr. Barker, our school director, says, “Safety is the biggest priority. Safety systems have to be in place, and teachers have to understand them.” In addition to safety, ensuring success is also important: “We need to make sure we put our students and teachers in positions to be successful.” Without emphasizing safety and making sure each student does well in the classroom, it becomes difficult for students to enjoy school and feel welcomed.
There are various events throughout the course of the school year that range from Homecoming, athletics, assemblies, ceremonies, book fairs, the Fall Carnival, and everything in between. “I really enjoy the activities where all the students are involved: student government, the Back-to-School bash,” as Mr. Barker describes. “Our goal is to bring everyone together for fun stuff.” Students, staff members, and administration all agree that events are, and have made, the community surrounding this school so special for so long.
In order to make this school year the best it can be and the best one yet, students and parents need to know how to help support staff members and the school in general. “Having students be prepared for their day, turning up to class on time, and wanting to learn” is really important to Ms. Debbie, the 7-12 Office Manager. “Forgetting their Chromebooks and agendas, not using please and thank yous, and chewing gum” are her biggest pet peeves. Collaboration from students and parents is a key aspect of a successful school year.
Our athletics programs have impressed year-after-year with their amazing feats and achievements. Athletics are one of the main activities that keep students engaged during the school year. Tavian Childers, Senior, tells us what he is looking forward to most this year: “Basketball, because I’ve been playing it for over a decade; it’s like waking up and brushing your teeth.” Sports have become a daily part of many students’ lives, and in the process, encourages community, team building, and new friendships to develop.
Thank you to all of the proud Eagle families, staff, and supporters who have provided unwavering commitment to make this school so special. Let’s make 2026-2027 a remarkable year that will not be forgotten. Go Eagles!
