Hello Spudder Families,

Welcome back to another great year at Ridgefield High School! I began teaching in 2003 and became a Spudder in 2014. I grew up in nearby Castle Rock, Washington, and graduated from Washington State University-Pullman before beginning my career teaching at Battle Ground High School. During that time, I earned my Master's in Education at Washington State University-Vancouver. In 2018, I earned my National Board Certification in English-Language Arts. I currently live in Portland, Oregon and spend my free time climbing mountains and traveling with my wife.

Working with young people has always been a passion, and I am excited to spend another year exploring literature and helping students find their voices! I love coming to work at a place where I know I will learn, laugh, and share an "aha" moment with students nearly every single day.

If you are a student or a parent looking for class updates, the best sources are Skyward/Parent Access and Google Classroom. Please note that Google Classroom is a great resource for parents to find out which work is turned in or missing, but Skyward/Parent Access provides the most accurate grade information. In addition, I send out a short weekly update each Friday via Skyward to help keep parents and students informed for the following week. Because I am so consistent in this, I will not regularly update this webpage. Please do, however, contact me whenever you have questions; the best medium is email, but I will return phone calls, as well.

Go Spuds!
