Natural Black Hair Care

Natural Black Hair

Remember all black hair is beautiful.

Whether your hair is curly, kinky, thin, thick, coarse, or wild always remember all black hair is beautiful despite all the comments that always circulate around. However, it can be a pain to take care of and maintain. I have been natural for essentially my entire life and the maintenance has always been difficult.

There are 4 things that you must always remember about your beautiful hair.

Black hair requires moisture and protein (even though most of us love our straight styles and don’t want to hear this), daily would be ideal! Just like anything else our hair needs water, but sometimes when our hair has enough water it can also require protein to strengthen your hair.

Make sure your hair is nourished daily with the essential hair oils. Basically, your hair needs oil. It gives nourishes your hair giving it moisture, promoting hair growth, and strengthening hair. Some examples of these oils would be extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil (preferably unrefined virgin cold-pressed), unrefined virgin cold-pressed jojoba oil, Jamaican black castor oil, grape seed oil, avocado oil, argan oil, tea tree oil, and Shea butter (oil when melted).

Protective styles are a must. When dealing with black hair you have to remember that our hair breaks incredibly fast when not protected. Just about as fast as it’s growing (1/2 in/month!). So, you can actually grow 6 in a year and keep them if you practice using some protective styles ( at least until your hair gets stronger and longer).

Last, but not least, always make sure you trim your split ends. This can be the most damaging. Split ends can travel all the way up your hair shaft damaging the rest of your hair! You don’t want that now do you!
