MEET KIM DARBY

I have served as a School Counselor at Spring Valley since 2011. I am a graduate of Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, Claflin University, and South Carolina State University. I have worked for the Department of Mental Health, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the Department of Disability and Special Needs. 

I believe all students can and will learn. Everyone's academic success will not look the same. I encourage students to achieve their personal best. I also believe it is my job to advocate for students and help level the playing field in the interests of fairness and equity. I am here to support students in their preparation for college, the military, and/or the workforce. My favorite part of the school year is graduation. I welcome and adore when students come back to visit.

During my off time, I enjoy watching suspense movies, cooking and baking, and attending concerts and sporting events. My favorite NFL team is the Carolina Panthers and my favorite NBA team is the Charlotte Hornets, even though LeBron James and Allen Iverson are my favorite NBA players.
