Ridge View High School was one of 2 Richland Two schools recognized as engaging more female students in computer science coursework. We received the AP Computer Science Principles Female Diversity Award and AP Computer Science A Female Diversity Award.
Mr. Christopher Nostrant wins 1st place in the SC State Fair in the Professional Mixed Media category.
Senior and Student Body President Otiana Thompson, who earned second place in the American Legion Oratorical Contest at Blythewood High School. Otiana earned a $250 scholarship for her speech.
Imani Belton, Iniesha Rochester, and Logan Zeis signed academic apprenticeships to Nephron, LTC Health Solutions, and RAM clutches, respectively .
Social Studies teacher, Edwin Griffin, took command of the 2nd Battalion 345th Regiment (Training Support BN) at Ft. Jackson South Carolina.
Mrs. Jennifer McLeod-Crady, the magnet director of The Institute of Health Science, recognized as the Teacher of the Year from the South Carolina Academy of Science (SCAS).
Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law and the Institute for Health Sciences were awarded the Magnet Schools of America (MSA) School of Distinction designation.
Activities
Ridge View's annual Winter Wishes service project was a huge success thanks to the support from students, staff, and community members! All of the goals set were achieved!!
Student Body president Otiana Thompson was honored by joining the Terry McCoy Hall of Fame Junior Yazmine Latimore was elected as the District 4 Vice Chair .
Ridge View High School Economics Challenge teams placed second and third in the South Carolina state final competition at the Darla Moore School of Business. 2nd place team members are Ashley Hensley, Kamari Boyd, Iesha Whittaker, and Jonathan Person. 3rd place in SC team members are Tavia Nash, Jillian LeRoux, Isaiah Gordon, and Marvin Ramos.
Faith Thopmson, Miranda Hurt, and Iyanna Chapman won 1st place and Erika VanAlstine placed 2nd at the 2019 SC HOSA State Leadership Conference to compete in the international Competition at Walt Disney World.
Sophomores Kyrstin White and Azharia Davis placed at the District Leadership Conference to compete in the State FBLA Competition .
Temperance Williams, Shavon Wiggins, and Jeremiah Lynch placed in the top 4 at the DECA State State Conference.
Principal Dr. Brenda Mack-Foxworth is the recipient of the 2019 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom award, the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for their outstanding support of employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.
Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law Seniors Mackenzie Gascon, Makeenie Robinson, and Sierra Sconzo who were named finalists in the University of South Carolina’s Honors College High School Writing Contest.
Team CUREage Endorsers, led by Junior Christa Joby, helped raise over $50,000 for the LLS mission, blood cancer patients, and their families in just 7 weeks.

Sophomores Kyrstin White and Azahria Davis placed at the District Leadership Conference of the State FBLA Competition in Charleston.
Yazmine Latimore, President of Ridge View's Sophomore Class, was elected to serve as the Vice Chairman of District 4 of the South Carolina Association of Student Councils (SCASC).
Ridge View's Student Council recognized as a Gold Honor Council for the 12th year in a row. Their Bash the Bengal event won 3rd place in the School Spirit category. In the Recognition category, their project for National Principals Month won 1st place.
Arts

Scholars Acdemy Magent for Business and law senior Hadiyah Ballard earns a gold and silver key in photography for scholastic Art and Writing Awards contest .
Theater teacher, Martha Hearn-Kelly, was awarded the South Carolina Theathe Assocation's Deborah Smith Hoffman Outstanding Mentor Teacher Award.
Mr.Phillip Pagal and the RV Orchestra received outstanding preformaces in 3 categories of their 2019 Concert Preformace Assesments (CPA). The String and Concert orchestras received Excellent ratings. The Chamber Orchestra received a superior rating.
Juniors Jada Mack and Benard McIlnay were selected to showcase their films at the Doko Fest, where they will receive reactions and comments from the auidence and other film makers . Mack also showcased her film at the Richland Two Film Festivale.
The Winterguard recieved 1st place at the CWEA Ardrey Kell competion .
14 Visual Arts students earned 22 awards at the 2019 Scholastic Art and Writing competion . Gold Keys, Scholastic's highest award, were awarded to Hadiyah Ballard, Chelise McCray, and Crystal Smith, who's artwork moved on to the National Level .
Athletics
Coach Warren Eure was named the National Federation of High Schools SC Coach of the Year for Girls Track and Field.
Isaiah Porter, Terry Carson, Senika McKie, and Walyn Napper participated in the inaugural Columbia Metro Senior Bowl at Irmo High School.
Ridge View Boys Basketball clinched the 4A Stae championship for the 2nd time.
Ridge View Girls Basketball advanced to the 2nd round playoffs .
Basketball players Malcolm Wilson, Wayln Napper, and Crosby Harris-James were selected to play in the Columbia Senior All-Star game.
Basketball players Javon Benson and Cincere Scott were selceted to play in the Jounior Showcase Game.
Laila Acox, Waylyn Napper, and Malcom Wilson were selcted for the 2019 SCBCA All State Teams.
Shooting a career low of 85 at the 4A Upper State Tournament, Jounior Imani Belton attended the 4A State Championship for the 2nd consecutive year.
The Boys Golf Team wins their first championship in 15 years at the Purple Division Championship, the 1st Annual Blazer Open.
Ridge View Strength Team are the 4A state Weightlifting Champs for 2019. Senior Jabri Hampton is the South Carolina 180 weight class State Weighting Champion for the 2nd consecutive year.
Senior Malcom Wilson was selcted to play in the Carolinas All Star Classic, which features the top SC senior basketball players versus the top NC senior players.
Junior golfer Jacob Fink who made the Region 3-AAAA All-Region team.
Ridge View Boys Golf team wins the Purple Division Championship in the First Annual Blazer Open. This is thier first championship in 15 years.
