For students
Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.
For parents
Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm or by appointment.
2. Can parents take out books too?
Yes, any parent of a Preston student can check out books. Please ask the librarian to create an account for you.
3. The book has been damaged. What do I do?
First, please don't try to fix it.
Return the book immediately to the Library for inspection.
Damage charges can vary depending on the book's condition.
Email or visit the library to find out the total price.
Per Education Code 48904(a), students are responsible for their books and costs.
4. Which forms of payment does the library accept?
The library only accepts cash, which must be the exact change.
5. The book has been lost. What do I do?
First, please make sure the book is truly lost.
Check the classroom, at home, lost and found, etc.
The library has a form to help students find their missing books. Please don't hesitate to visit and ask for help.

6. How to select a book to read?
The Library offers diverse books, including Fiction, Nonfiction, and Reference books for research and projects. Fiction represents something that is not true or unreal, whereas Nonfiction indicates a factual account. Before selecting a book to check out, look at the title, cover, and print size for easy reading. Listen to suggestions from friends, teachers, parents, and other librarians.
7. How can I or my child become a better reader?
Read yourself! Show your child that reading is important to you.
Read with your child! It doesn't matter how old your child is. Reading together helps build a strong emotional bond, expand vocabularies, expose children to various genres, and create a passion for reading.
Ask questions! Ask the kids what they are learning from the book, who the main characters are, what happened at the beginning and end of the story, etc.
