ELA & SS - Branches of Government

The U.S. Government is divided into 3 branches: The Legislative Branch, The Executive Branch, and the Judicial Branch. You will be able to pick one of these three branches. You will explore information to gather research on your chosen branch. Read through texts and articles, view images, and watch videos to find out everything you can about your branch.

You will then organize the information, summarize the text, gather images, and take video clips, to create a 3-5 minute commercial about your Branch using Adobe Express. Your commercial will consist of pictures, videos, your voice, descriptions of your branch and a variety of required information.

After you have put together your commercial, you will then be showing it to the class.

What Do I Need to Include in My Project?

A description of the branch you chose.
What are the primary powers of the branch you chose?
Who makes up the branch (how many members and what are their titles)?
What are the qualifications to be a member?
What "Check" does your branch have over the other branches?
What "Balance" do other branches have over your branch?
Anything else important that you find about your branch!

STEPS TO COMPLETE PROJECT

STEP 1

Pick the branch that you would like to research and learn about.

STEP 2

Research your chosen branch. Keep track of all your research on the organizer provided on Google Classroom. Make sure to keep track of all the websites that you used.

In order to continue to the next step, you will need to get approval from your teacher.

STEP 3

Start your Storyboard for your project. This is your plan for your commercial. You will be creating what your video will look like.

Gather images for what you want each scene to look like with a quick explanation. This will be done on slides on Google Classroom. You will need to turn this in for credit.

STEP 4

Start your script. You will need to write out your script. You will need to turn this in for credit.

In order to continue to the next step, you will need to get approval from your teacher.

STEP 5

You will put together an Adobe Express Video with voice-overs.

When you are finished, please ask your teacher for directions on how to submit your final project.

STEP 6

When your project is complete, please be sure to turn in your organizer, storyboard slides, and script in order to receive credit on your steps.
