Instructions (Please pick one assignment to complete.):

Design your own Feudal Manor using Google Slideshow (pulling images from online) or a large piece of white paper neatly hand-draw with the images listed. If you decide to complete your project on paper, your Manor must be drawn in complete color. If you decide to design using a Google Slideshow, you must find a background that best suits your Manor and images that best represent the list below. 

Your project must include:

• Lord’s Castle

• Serfs’ Cottages

• A Church

• A Blacksmith

• A Forest

• Farmland

• An Orchard

• A Stream

• A Pond

• Roads

For each item that is to be included, you must write a short description of what that item is, why it was used/its overall purpose.

Descriptions - 

Google Slideshow - The items need to be described on the outside of your slideshow not interfering with the picture.

Paper Drawing - The items need to be describe on the back of your drawing, not interfering with the pictures. You may type and glue them or write them neatly.

Minecraft - You can design the manor on Minecraft. You will need to take pictures of each location and put them on the slides on Google Classroom. The descriptions of each location will also be on the slides. 

*Please note - the examples below are different types of Manor projects over the years in 7th grade. They give a good representation of what is expected overall.

Create a Contract - Draw up a contract between yourself (the lord of the manor) and a one of your serfs.  Your contract could be hand-drawn or typed. 

If you want to get it printed you will need to communicate with your teacher that you need it printed. Make sure you include:

• The Responsibilities and Obligations of the Serf (What is he/she expected to do for you?)

• Your own Obligations to the Serf (What do you provide him/her?)

• Signatures of both the Vassal and yourself agreeing to the contract (Make up the Vassal’s signature or have someone else sign)

A Letter - You have found a letter from one of your serfs to his/her best friend who lives at another manor.  What does the letter say? Write it in the first person as if you were the serf. Your letter could be hand-drawn or typed. 

If you want to get it printed you will need to communicate with your teacher that you need it printed. It should include:

• What kind of work you do on a normal day

• What restrictions the lord places on you

• What you eat

• Where you live

• What you think about God

*If you wish to make your contract or letter look aged by getting it printed out, you have an opportunity to earn extra credit.
