We are excited to announce the return of the Waikato Interschool Model United Nations (MUN) Conference in August 2024! We noticed that after the COVID-19 pandemic, no one had taken the initiative to start up MUN debates in our region. This will be the first MUN conference in the Waikato region since 2019, providing a unique and valuable opportunity for students to engage in global issues, develop their public speaking skills, and foster a deeper understanding of international relations.

This full-day conference will provide students with ample opportunities to engage in dynamic debates, collaborative discussions, and interactive sessions, all designed to enhance, and put into action their understanding of international relations and diplomacy. The event will be hosted at Rototuna Senior High School. Participants will benefit from a structured agenda that includes opening and closing ceremonies, committee sessions, and networking intervals, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching experience for all attendees.

Venue room: Mangapu (Up the stairs and straight through 2 sets of doors)
Times: Commencing at 10 am and expected to conclude at 5 pm
Dress code: Business casual and / or cultural attire
8th of July: Delegate registration forms and payments are open.
31st of July: Form closes, and all payments are due.
30th of July - 2nd of August: Information pack emailed to delegates.
3rd of August: Waikato MUN Session at Rototuna Senior High School.
All students from all schools in the Waikato region are eligible to register and attend the event. If you have any questions regarding your eligibility to participate, please contact us at 2024-HSA@rhs.school.nz. The only other requirement is for students outside of RHS to pay the $10 entry fee, with more details provided in the below FAQ. The participation of high schools across the Waikato region fosters a diverse community of global citizens. This collaboration enhances cultural exchange, leadership development, and diplomatic skills among students, enriching their educational experience and preparing them to engage meaningfully in global issues.

This fee is essential for the event to proceed, covering the costs associated with organising and hosting the conference. The entry fee also includes food and drink, ensuring that delegates are provided with nourishment throughout the event. Additionally, delegates who actively participate throughout the MUN conference will receive a certificate of participation from the United Nations Association (UNA). Your payment guarantees that we can offer necessary resources, materials, and amenities, ensuring a high-quality experience for everyone involved. Entry fee is due prior to the event, with all deposits due by the 31st of July.
Pupils at RHS are not required to pay the associated $10 entrance fee.
For every person you refer to the event, you earn a chocolate bar! The person with the most referrals will also earn a special prize. To enter, simply ask the person you've referred to enter your name and the school you attend when they come to register below.
Terms & Conditions
The full name and school of the referee must be clearly stated on the registration form.
For a referral to be deemed valid, the referred individual must attend the event on the specified date.
The referral programme will commence on 24 July and remain active until 31 July.

To confirm your entry, you must complete the delegate registration form below and pay the $10.00 fee using the aforementioned bank account details. Payment can be made after submitting the registration form, but must be made by the 31st of July, 2024. Please note that an email confirmation of your spot will only be sent once the payment has been received.
We are also only able to host a limited number of students. Therefore, the form is on a first-come, first-served basis, and will close once we've reached capacity.
