The NCC has three wings namely the Army wing, the Air Force wing and the Navy wing. The NCC provides the most suitable environment to motivate the youth of the country to join the defence forces which includes the overall development of their personality, punctuality and to be the responsible citizens of the country. The  NCC aims to create and develop discipline, a spirit of adventure and team work among the school, college and university going students. The cadets are formally selected to ensure their medical and physical fitness. From time to time the NCC organizes different state and national level camps for the cadets. The basic objective of these camps is to train the young cadets for the military life. The Annual Training Camps are the great learning experiences for the cadets as during these camps they are made to learn, understand and train themselves for the disciplined life in the defense forces of our country. During such camps, the cadets are made to undergo physical training, parade drill and exercises in the morning, in the day time classes are conducted by the army personnel, they are also given rifle training and the evenings are reserved for cultural activities. In the national level NCC camps the cadets undergo training indifferent parts of the country. Such camps go a long way in promoting national integration and a spirit of brotherhood among the youth.

It is a matter of great pride that the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab has been allotted one platoon (50 cadets) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) by the 5 Punjab NCC Battalion with effect from the academic session 2019-20.
