Back to school tips for parents from the Education Service Center of Central Ohio:
Establish a routine: This can be hard when things have been “loose” all summer. Start slow & build a weekday routine so kids know what is expected of them.
Connect & communicate: Encourage open communication to build strong, trustworthy relationships between teachers, parents & students.
Pack healthy lunches: Good nutrition = better learning & better mental & physical health.
Practice & model stress-relief techniques: Let your kids see you taking care of yourself. Try breathing exercises, a gratitude journal or a parent “time out”.
Prioritize good sleep: Reduce pre-bedtime digital exposure. Practice early bedtimes & activities such as reading or listening to calming music that can help relax the body & promote good sleep.
