Classroom Information

ClassDojo:

ClassDojo is a classroom management tool. It's used to encourage important skills like working hard, participating, and responsibility. You can easily stay connected with your child's classrooms. We use it as a communication tool to relay things like messages and updates. You will be able to stay up to date with your child's Dojo points as well.

Class Dojo will take on a building wide presence this year as we have a central theme as part of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Incentive System).

We'd love all of our families to join us and sign up for ClassDojo! You can use it on any device: It is a simple, free mobile app for iOS and Android, and can also be used from a computer at: www.classdojo.com. A parent letter was sent home that includes the class code needed to join. Please let us know if you need assistance!

Take Home Folders:

Your child will bring home a “take home” folder each night. All Hillcrest students were provided with a blue take home folder. This folder is a wonderful communication tool and needs to be returned to school daily. Any important papers from school and homework (worksheets) can be found there. Also, any graded papers will come home in the "take home" folder.

Daily Assignment Book:

This is completed by the student with teacher guidance in all subject areas. Students fill this in at the start of each day. The assignment book should then be reviewed at home and signed by a parent. We will use the assignment book as a communication tool between home and school. If you put a message in the book for us and a response is warranted, expect a short note back to indicate that the message was read. Please do not use the book to write pick up notes, as they must be sent to the office. Please be sure to sign the Assignment Book DAILY to show us that you are aware of the night’s homework and have discussed it with your child.

Redo Policy:

Students are permitted to correct their mistakes on any homework or classroom assignment if their score is below 70%. They will earn back one-half of the points they missed if they correct the entire assignment. Students are not permitted to redo tests or quizzes. We prefer that assignments are turned in within two days following its return to the student. If an assignment from Google Classroom is redone, the student MUST tell the teacher. We do not get alerted when a student resubmits a graded assignment in Google Classroom.

Thanks for going over your child’s work with them each week!
