Ms. VerMilyea studied History and Social Science as an undergraduate at The University of Birmingham, U.K., and went on to gain a Masters in Education soon afterwards. Becoming trained to teach History to 11-18 year olds, Ms. VerMilyea taught at secondary schools throughout the Midlands region of England and was soon hired as the Assistant Director of a History Department. Specialized in how to teach students in ways to use thinking skills to retain information, Ms. VerMilyea loves to plan activities that spur young people to question, analyze, and show their knowledge most effectively. Teaching English in Japanese schools, near Kobe, gave her the opportunity to cross language barriers and plan memorable grammar and conversational language lessons to all aged children and adults. Ms. VerMilyea has lived and taught in many different countries including New Zealand and continues to love visiting places that are new to her in Texas. She has some favorite go-to places to relax and 'keep up' with her two young children in and looks forward to getting to know Austin and surrounding towns better with local friends and family, who visit her all the way from England and Australia. Ms. VerMilyea played Field Hockey at college and county level, loves to bake, cook, read, and exercise at the gym.
