Ms. LaPorte teaches AP Biology, Algebra II and Human Psychology and Development. She earned her B.S. from Villanova University (Class of 2019). She majored in Neuroscience and Humanities, and minored in Theology and Psychology. Her Honors thesis was on CS Lewis’ Till We Have Faces, which is one of her favorite books. After college, Miss LaPorte entered a PhD program in Developmental Psychology at Notre Dame. She was a graduate student researcher in the Babies and Families lab, in addition to the Moral and Adolescent Psychology lab, where she was also a lab manager. While at Notre Dame, Miss LaPorte worked for the Fiat Program for Faith and Mental Health (McGrath Institute for Church Life) as a research assistant. She was also a Sorin Fellow through the de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture, and a Burns Fellow in PIER (Program for Interdisciplinary Educational Research). Miss LaPorte has presented posters at psychology conferences, and has been a contributing author in a few published articles. After completing her M.A., Miss LaPorte taught as an adjunct professor at Holy Cross College. She then decided to leave academia and the PhD program in order to teach at a classical school. She was excited to find Founders, and join the teachers and mission here! Aside from her academic interests, Miss LaPorte finds joy spending time with her big family and her friends, in addition to cooking and baking, and improving her skills in beach volleyball.
