Studio Habits of Mind
All artists deserve a safe space to try out ideas without the pressure of having an audience.
Sketchbooks are books of blank thick paper where you can practice and develop your creative ideas.
Creativity is a process of bringing the invisible good that is within yourself into the visible world. Your sketchbook doesn't have to be a space for perfection. It's a place of growth.
In a sketchbook your initial marks don't have to be pretty, they just have to initiate the communication of your present ideas with your future self. You will fill your sketchbook full of ideas, sketches, plans for future artwork, doodles, exercises and notes.
Let's Open our sketchbooks and design the cover to make our sketchbook unique!
Step 1 Set Up your sketchbook and draw your design with pencils and colored pencils
Step 2: Lets use acrylic paint and paint pens to create our final design on the cover.
Of course you can draw in your sketchbook for more than 15 minutes. In fact you can draw whatever you want as much as you want, as long as you've explored your own ideas for at least 15 minutes a week.
During art class, you will use your sketchbook to practice techniques and plan ideas for artwork.
Some assignments will need to be done in the sketchbook.
The best place to keep your sketchbook is your back pack.
Artists share their creations! For 10 minutes each class we will share our creative process and thinking with our classmates.
Artists use sketchbooks to practice expressing their ideas without the pressure of an audience.
Sketchbooks are a place for growth, and experimentation.
We use sketchbooks to create! We use our sketchbooks to get our ideas from out of our heads into the world where we can experience it.
