Wilson "Snowflake" Bentley was an American farmer who is known for his pioneering work with macrophotography, most notably his work with snowflakes. He adapted a microscope to a camera and after many years of trial and error, was the first person to photograph a snow crystal in 1885.
He went on to capture more than 5000 snowflakes during his lifetime and his photos were acquired by universities and colleges throughout the world. He died in 1931.
Wilson "Snowflake Bentley discovered that there are no two snowflakes with the same design.
