A cropped portrait features a picture of a person's face cropped or cut in half to make an interesting or unexpected composition.
We can make cropped portraits featuring the left- or right-half of a face, the top-half of the face, or the lower half of the face
We draw the lower half of the head. More details added to the shirt.
We draw the upper half of the head, more details added to hair and above the head
Today we will begin creating our own cropped self portrait
You will choose to create a left/right side crop; nose-down crop, or eyes-up crop
You will create a practice draft on free-drawing paper.
You will create a final on large construction paper.
You will trace your pencil lines
left/right crop can show even balance between your face and the background
Nose-down crop focuses more on the shirt and body. Background is minimal
Eyes-Up crop show a little of the face, but applies more emphasis on the hair and background above the head.
