New and Aspiring Curriculum Leaders Series

Description:

This two-year learning series is specifically designed for individuals who are new to or aspiring towards the curriculum director role. Participants are afforded the flexibility to join either Year 1 or Year 2 of the program, Using Michigan’s Strategic Education Plan and the topics from year one as a guide, this series aims to provide meaningful learning experiences on high-leverage concepts that directly impact the whole school community. Working to build consistent communication structures through integrating these aspects into system-level work will be essential for ensuring coherence and sustainability. Each session, centered on equity, will concentrate on leadership and transformation needed for dynamic and innovative changes. Co-facilitated by experienced leaders currently serving in district-level curriculum roles and RESA consultants, the learning sessions offer tools and resources to facilitate systems-level work. Participants will not only apply their learning but also collaborate with peers. As a bonus, each participant will receive a copy of Street Data, serving as an anchor for equitable data collection, analysis, and decision-making throughout the series.

Goals:

• Provide an overview of relevant topics that impact the curriculum leader role

• Examine current practices centering on equity and continuous improvement

• Apply skills to situations that a curriculum leader may encounter

• Build meaningful connections within and across Wayne County

• Provide tools, resources, and relevant research to support innovative decisions and systems-level change
