WHAT'S A HACKATHON?
Hackathons are events where teams design and complete a 24 hour group project. They help likeminded people solve real-world problems and have a ton of fun doing it.
WHAT'S #HACK?
#HACK is the largest global hackathon taking the Gospel to new people, new places, and new spaces.
40 COUNTRIES // 80 CITIES // 2,000+ PARTICIPANTS
WHAT'S #HACK ATL GOING TO BE LIKE?
Learn about challenges facing ministries who are advancing the Kingdom of God globally.
Pick a challenge to tackle and group up with like-minded partners.
Spend 24 hours (sleep is optional 😉) working on your project. You might create an app, strategic plan, video, graphic, or complete another creative idea.
During the hackathon, participants will have the opportunity to attend inspiring and instructive sessions to help with their challenges. Final projects will be judged by a panel of ministry and business leaders.
WHAT TYPE OF PERSON SHOULD COME TO A HACKATHON?

CHALLENGES:
Recommended projects to help kick-start teams include...
GLOBAL #HACK CHALLENGES
Discipleship in a Digital Age: how might Christians in the church collaborate to reach and disciple others through [the digital age to become more like Christ in wisdom, virtue and fruitful living?
Least Reached People: how might Christians in the church collaborate to identify, reach and disciple those who have limited to no access to the gospel?
People On The Move: how might Christians in the church collaborate to reach and disciple the many people and groups relocating from the homeland, to live for Christ wherever they are?
LOCAL #HACK ATL CHALLENGES
Missional Data Visualization: how could data be used to track and gain insight about where the Gospel is spreading?
The Arts in Missions: how can art, music, technology and digital media be leveraged to engage a multi-generational audience that does not know the Gospel?
One Stop Shop Media Library: finding the available Gospel media for the country, people group, and context that you're searching is a major challenge. How might we put all of these resources in one place with smart AI navigation?
BYOP (Bring Your Own Project): team provides a challenge relevant to their own local community or experience.

FAQ
What size will the event be? Between 20 and 50 local participants and between 5 and 20 remote participants.
Are hackathons only for programmers? #HACK is not just for software developers, engineers, and UX designers. We need content creators, church leaders, project managers, and anyone who wants to contribute creative solutions to also join the event.
Are hackathons only for students? Nope. Hackathon participants are often college-age students, but #HACK is still open to all ages. If you're under 16yrs, you must be accompanied by an adult.

SHOW TIME AT #HACK 2024 ATL
Form a team of 5 people or less. Anything larger becomes a a challenge, especially during presentations
Collaborate, don’t compete. We’re here to build and have fun
Take advantage of any coaching or mentoring offered
Save, push and review often
Be kind, patient and laugh, especially into the wee hours of the morning
Get some shut-eye. Seriously.
Help someone out, even another individual or team.
Respect the space and the campus. Please keep the space clean and organized. It's ok to clean up a mess, even if you didn’t cause it. Also, the Renew campus is an alcohol, smoke, and tobacco free zone.
Prepare to present. Pay attention to timing, prompts to wrap, submit projects and rehearse presentations. They will be lightning style, so practice goes a very long way. Don’t skimp on the documentation and presentation.
Live demos can be intimidating, especially in front of “strangers”. We’ll become family after the first evening, but keep in mind that everyone on the team should have a chance to say something. Demo time will be short, so figure out who the verbose one is on the team and help them stay within limit. Make sure the soft-spoken one uses the microphone or projects. Give everyone a gold star!
Check your laptop power. If you’re on battery, save and save often!
We’ll be wrapping up and out of the space by 9PM EST
