Year Six

WHENUA POD - REMARKABLES PRIMARY

2018

End of term two celebration - 'Wonder Movie'

The movie 'Wonder' is based on the New York Times bestseller, and tells an incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story about August Pullman, a boy with facial difference who enters fifth grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time. The key messages that flow through the story are around promoting kindness, tolerance and inclusion. These special dispositions are all key values we, at Remarkables Primary, aspire to under our 'Respect' peak.

Another theme prevalent in the movie is anti-bullying. While reading the novel, we have been unpacking the importance of kindness and being an 'up-stander,' as well as appreciating difference and tolerance to ensure a safe environment for all.

Mike King - 6th of March

Today Mike King came to Remarkables Primary School. Here is the class summary about Mike's visit.

The key message was about mental health and how it can affect you. Also to believe in yourself and help others. You should never feel like you have to change yourself, have positivity in your life!

This will change our future because you will never be alone. We can stand up to bullies, now we will be able to believe in ourselves. It has given us hope! Don't judge us or others around us. BE CONFIDENT!
