Executive Cabinet

About:

The Student Government Executive Cabinet consists of seven positions: Student Body President, Student Body Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasury Secretary, Junior and Senior Board of Education Representatives, and Parliamentarian. The role of the Executive Cabinet is to oversee the workings of Student Government and ensure that the membership is committed to fulfilling the roles to which they have been elected. The Cabinet also runs its own projects, which are meant to reflect the ideals put in place by the officers' election platforms.

Bayan Galal '19

Student Body President

Bayan Galal currently serves as Student Body President and Board of Education representative. She has been a Student Government member for four years, serving as Class President in 9th and 10th grade, and Junior Board of Education Representative in 11th grade. She was appointed to the CAS State Student Advisory Council on Education, where she voices student perspectives on critical issues concerning Connecticut high schools. She is Vice President of Math Team, captain of Quiz Bowl, and a four-year member and captain of the Cross Country team. In addition, she is President of the World Language Honor Society and a member of the National and Math Honor Societies. Bayan will double major in molecular biology and global affairs at Yale University and pursue a career at the intersection of healthcare and public policy.

Madison Lisowski '20

Student Body Vice-President

Madison Lisowski is the current Student Body Vice President of the WRSG. She is in her junior year at Woodland and has been a member of this organization since her freshman year. She started out as a senator, then rose to the position of Recording Secretary, and now plans to run for Student Body President to end her legacy at our school.

Emma Wood '21

Cabinet Treasury Secretary

Emma Wood is a sophomore in high school and is in her first year of student government. She is the treasurer secretary in student government and is also a member of Global Scholars at her high school. She enjoys listening to music and spending time with family and friends.

Kayleigh Huk '21

Cabinet Recording Secretary

Kayleigh Huk joined Student Government this year. She is the Recording Secretary for the Senate and attended the Yale Model Congress competition in 2018. She is also a member of the swim and math teams.

Aisha Yusuf '19

Parliamentarian

Aisha joined Student Government in her junior year as a senator. Student government surprised her with how structured it was, and how the student body was essentially emulating governments around the world, be it the British Parliament or the U.S congress. After hands on experience as a senator and joining the student government class, she ran for Parliamentarian as a senior. As a an active student, she takes pride in her other extracurriculars as well, such as Woodland Worldwide, Math team, the three Honor Societies, Quiz Bowl, Track and Field, the Student Book Club, and the Writer's Wing. You can usually catch her in the library.

Emma Flaherty '21

Junior Board of Education Representative

Emma serves as a Board of Education Representative and is a two-year member of Student Government. She also works for Woodland’s journalism department, Hawk Headlines. She is a huge Dunkin fan, and if you’d like to contribute to her caffeine addiction, she orders a large caramel-coconut swirl iced coffee with cream and two splenda. She's looking forward to getting more great legislation passed, enacted, and criticized by the Senators who love grammar.
