In the Creative Labs, we have two proton Drill Press. This drill press is a versatile tool that will allow you to drill accurate holes in various materials. When using the drill you must adhere to the following health and safety rules:
1) Tie long hair back
2) Wear Safety Goggles
3) Remove any loose jewelry around your wrists.

You can watch the videos below to learn all of the features of a drill press but you must have an active demonstration with a teacher to ensure you can use this equipment correctly. Please see your teacher to book this.
Your First Learning Task
Using a scrap piece of wood, your first learning task is to practice drilling a few holes of various sizes using a wood drill bit. Then, practice changing the bit to drill a bigger or smaller hole. By the end of this learning task, you should feel comfortable changing bits and drilling holes. This gives you a real chance to gain confidence with a drill press. They are great pieces of equipment which are used a lot. Remember to tie your long hair back and wear safety goggles when using this tool.
Once you have practiced using the drill and following the beginner videos. You should be ready to use the drill for more complex projects. Some key learning points:
1) Always use the correct safety equipment.
2) Make sure you have the correct drill bit or screw bit for the task you are trying to achieve.
3) Make sure the settings are correct for the task you are trying to achieve.
4) After use put everything back and remove the drill/screw bits for next use.
5) Battery - Recharge the battery after use.
