Can I really get paid to care?
Carbon markets are already well under way. The precedents have been set. With the right measurement protocols, various environmental assets may turn out to be very marketable, with returns adding to or in some cases even matching production profits.
What are carbon credits?
Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) are a tradable financial product. They incentivise carbon abatement activities through projects ranging from reforestation to energy effeciency.
ACCUs are an additional income source for individuals and businesses running ACCU Scheme projects.
One ACCU represents one tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) that would have otherwise been released into the atmosphere.
