Region 13 Educator Certification Program for Secondary Core Certification Areas

Overview

Region 8 ESC is excited to expand our partnership with Region 13 ESC for Teacher Certification. In addition to the existing partnership for Career and Technical Education certification, we are excited to pilot a Secondary Core Certification program.

The Region 13 Educator Certification Program for Secondary Core Certification Areas is an 11-month teacher preparation and certification program that provides professionals from different fields with an alternative to the traditional university route to certification. This rigorous, field-based program integrates theory with practice, allowing teacher-interns to make valuable contributions to public schools as they build strategies for success in the classroom.

This program holds all of the same requirements as our traditional educator certification program; however, it is unique in that an applicant MUST be referred to the program by a school principal or district.

The Secondary Education Distance Cohort Education Certification Program (SEDC-ECP) is designed specifically for school districts within Region 8 that need to employ an uncertified applicant for a difficult to fill position during the spring or summer months. The SEDC-ECP ensures that program participants meet all federal highly qualified requirements.

See our Certification Areas page for a full list of certifications covered by this program.
