Project SNOW

Every winter, Deschutes National Forest partners with non-profit partner, Discover Your Forest to host a snowshoe program at Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort in Bend, Oregon for people of all ages. Participants, including school children learn about the forest, wildlife and Central Oregon geology.

Over 3,000 local students receive educational programing on the slopes through Project SNOW (Studying Nature Outdoors in Winter).

Frontier Days

10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Meet fur trappers, investigate pelts and skulls, build a wagon and create pioneer tools. Students are brought into the marvelous history of Westward Expansion and frontier living. Stations around the museum feature hands-on activities and opportunities for student-directed learning.

June 4 or 6, 2019

Visit the Lava Lands visitor center and hike the lava fields to learn about the unique local geological features of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument.
