My Life’s Purpose
My life's purpose revolves around changing the world one child at a time. My aim is to impact as many young lives as possible, unlocking their potential and instilling in them the belief that they can achieve great things. However, my overarching philosophy is that the purpose of school isn't limited to the classroom; it extends to life after school. Particularly in the realm of leadership, my role is to prepare children for the future. The future demands a new kind of leader, one who is self-reliant and capable of forging their own path. While some children are naturally confident and charismatic, it's my duty to help all children, regardless of their personality type, find their voices and make courageous choices.
Additionally, I'm committed to nurturing positive self-esteem in children, reinforcing the belief that they are indeed exceptional. That's why I firmly believe in the power of positive affirmations displayed in our classroom. Repetition breeds belief, and by consistently hearing and repeating positive messages, children can come to believe in their own potential.
In 2020, when the challenges of Covid-19 began to affect our school, I played a pivotal role in introducing a mindfulness program. Throughout that challenging year, I provided unwavering support to both my fellow educators and the students. To be candid, the pandemic spurred my creativity and pushed me to become more tech-savvy than I could have ever envisioned.
I embrace change and challenges with open arms. What excites me even more is the opportunity to share my knowledge and begin the journey of making a positive impact on the world, one child at a time.
I use the following pedagogical models in my classroom:
· Student-centered learning environments
· Inquiry-based learning
· Interactive learning stations
· Collaborative tasks
Where it is important to:
Model as you teach
Make mistakes
Work as a team
Encourage learning from investigation
Let the students teach peers
Integrate technology into the classroom
Try graphic organizers – thinking maps
Emphasise behaviour management
Finally, I want to emphasize that I embody courage. I fearlessly embrace new challenges, welcome the opportunity to make mistakes, and readily admit when I lack knowledge. I am unhesitant in seeking assistance when required, receptive to fresh ideas, and enthusiastic about learning from my errors.
Furthermore, I find great fulfillment in both giving and receiving appreciation, as I believe it holds significant value in our interactions.
