Objective: Students will research, analyze data, make predictions, and construct explanations based on evidence which are kep components of NGSS practices
Standards:
Engaging in March Mammal Madness allows students to analyze data, make predictions, and construct explanations based on evidence, all of which are key components of NGSS-aligned scientific practices. It also provides opportunities for students to explore concepts related to ecosystems, adaptation, and biological diversity, aligning with NGSS disciplinary core ideas.
MS-LS2-1: Analyze and interpret data to provide evidence for the effects of resource availability on organisms and populations of organisms in an ecosystem.
MS-LS2-2: Construct an explanation that predicts patterns of interactions among organisms across multiple ecosystems.
MS-SP1-1: Ask questions that arise from careful observation of phenomena, models, or unexpected results, to clarify and/or seek additional information.
MS-SP8-1: Construct a scientific explanation based on evidence for how environmental and genetic factors influence the growth of organisms.
