Create Engaging Lessons for Asynchronous Online Learning

Creating virtual lessons that actually have your students excited and engaged can be challenging. There are so many tools, techniques and activities that it can be overwhelming to determine where to even start. In this workshop, we will walk you through step-by-step on how to create interactive asynchronous lessons that will actually engage your students. We will also share tips and tools that you can easily use in your lessons to keep track of which students actually respond or if they completed the lesson.

Connection Before Content - Student Check-ins and Maintaining Relationships

Checking-in with students and maintaining relationships in a remote setting have never been more important. We’ll dig into best practices, strategies, and tools for building and maintaining culture in an online environment. We’ll overview a curated shortlist of ideas to address challenges and get hands-on with a couple of strategies/tools you can use tomorrow. Focus tools include Google Forms, Pear Deck and Google Meet.

How to Engage and Support your Students in an Online Classroom

How do you ensure you are reaching each and every student as well as meeting their needs during blended learning? Effective communication, tools, and activities are key. So, in this session we're giving you everything you'll need to actively engage your students, increase attendance and participation, motivate them, as well as create open forms of communication to assess their needs.

You want the virtual experience to be as valuable as the face to face one, but how do you get students to actually engage and start to build up your classroom community? In this session, we're giving you the tools, activities, and strategies to connect with your students on day 1 of school and continue to build the relationship throughout the year. During emergency distance learning, on the biggest challenges you faced was getting students to actually show up, complete work and participate. Going into the new school year, we're equipping you with everything you will need to create a strong, engaged virtual classroom community.

Google Classroom is a great starting point for your new responsibilities for Distance Learning. Join us in this workshop to get a walkthrough of setting up a class, adding students, posting resources, taking attendance by posing a question, connecting with students, adding assignments, using the Google Meet integration and tracking student progress. This workshop will get you up to speed with Google Classroom so you are ready to begin connecting with your students.
