There are many reasons for this: learning disabilities (such as dyslexia), family concerns, social/peer challenges, lack of environmental supports, and more. Here at the Simpson County Literacy Center, we empower adults to fully develop their reading skills using evidence-based tools and materials at NO COST TO THE LEARNER. We provide a private, one-on-one learning environment where adults feel safe to understand their reading abilities and build new skills.
To remain as flexible as possible, our instructors are equipped to assess learners' phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills, and to use the best tools for each unique learner. We do not believe that one size or one program fits all. We will find the best pathway for each individual to improve their reading skills in the most effective way possible.
