Progress notes are an excellent way to document a student’s progress, as well as inform other tutors that may need to substitute in the event of an absence.
Front- check the reading game that is used, record the book read with the student, check how the book was completed, write notes from the session
Back- progress checks, to be completed weekly, progress checks only take a minute, aligned with how students are assessed in school, literacy hints are given for guidance
Noting accomplishments are an important part of the progress notes. Accomplishments of each session can be shared with the student to build confidence.
Check with your Team Lead to determine the starting Reading Component for your student.
In the black box, please get an erasable marker, a small eraser, and a sand timer. If you prefer to use your phone for a timer, that is fine as well.
You’ll take one Tutor Progress Check Booklet and one Student Progress Check Booklet.
Your Progress Check sheets are laminated and easy for you to reuse from week to week. There are directions sheets included for each Progress Check.
For some Progress Checks, only you need a copy. But for others, the students will use their copies in their Progress Check Booklet.
Encourage the students to try their best and that this is not a test. We are simply seeing how we’ll they are progressing. We will applaud growth!
