The Product Owner/BA and Product Management Roles REV-Up

Goal: Boost product management skills and clarify responsibilities; participants will be able to:

· recognize the following key elements of a well-formed User Story: WHO, WHAT, WHY, Acceptance Criteria.
· explain why INVEST-worthy stories are important (Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimatable, Sized Appropriately, and Testable).
· distinguish between a thin vertical slice and a horizontal, dependent story.
· distinguish between a technical story and a business story.
· write a well-formed, INVEST-worthy story (collectively as a group).
· define the key responsibilities of a Product Owner: to produce (refine) a sized & prioritized backlog, to challenge the business on the next minimally valuable increment, and to focus on the business what and avoid the technical how.
· create a shared Definition of Ready that incorporates key compliance breadcrumbs.

Epic & Feature Writing REV-Up

Goal: Help Product Owners and BAs to create quarterly plans that balance emergent design and stable estimates.

Includes:

· Half-day workshop with pre-canned story splitting exercises
· Co-creation of appropriately sized sample backlog items for each participant

Backlog Refinement REV-Up

Goal: Decrease the time to plan backlog items while increasing the team's understanding of customer needs.

Includes:

· Backlog Refinement training video
· 3x25-minute coaching consultations to help one team apply the skills

Story Writing REV-Up

Goal: Teach Product Owners, Product Managers, and BAs to write just enough detail in their backlog items to get accurate estimates from teams and deliver just what the customer needs.

· Half-day workshop for up to 15 people
· Co-creation of INVEST-worthy sample stories for each business group

Story Splitting REV-Up

Goal: Teach Product Owners, Product Managers, and BAs to decompose large stories into appropriately-sized stories.

Includes:

· Co-creation of sample story splits for each business group
