20time Awards

  • Please take a moment to nominate a fellow classmate for one of the 20time Awards. Results will be announced today at 10:10am.

Reflecting on Your 20time Project

  • Spend a few minutes reflecting on your 20time experience as a whole, by completing the Reflecting on Your 20time Project Google Form.

20time Project Photobook

  • Visit the 20time Workspace to pick up your photobook slide. We look forward to combining everyone’s slides into a 20time Photobook.

Please complete these assignments in the order that they’re listed. Be sure to ask a 20time Facilitator if you have questions or concerns, and we would be happy to assist!

Assignment #15: Practice TED Talk Presentation (speech + slideshow), Remind TED Talk Invitees of Your TED Talk Date & Time, and Prepare for the 20time Marketplace

Task #1: Practice, Practice, Practice!

  • Practice your 20time TED Talk Presentation (speech + slideshow) as many times as you can, to ensure that you feel confident and prepared with delivering your presentation on our TEDx stage.

Task #2: Remind Guests of your 20time TED Talk

  • Please remind your family, friends, and interviewees of the day and time that you will be presenting your TED Talk on.

Task #3: 20time Marketplace

  • If you’re planning to showcase your 20time Project at our 20time Marketplace, please ensure that you’re organized and ready to showcase your work on Tuesday, June 13th.

All tasks to be completed ASAP!

Assignment #15: Revise TED Talk Presentation (speech + slideshow) & Share TED Talk Invites

Please complete both homework tasks listed below by Tuesday, May 30th, 2017.

Task #1: Revise & Memorize Your 20time TED Talk

  • Take into consideration any feedback you received during today’s breakout session and revise your 20time TED Talk Presentation (speech + slideshow)
  • Submit your TED Talk speech to the 20time Workspace to be assessed for LA
  • Memorize your 20time TED Talk in its entirety, as next week’s 20time Session will be a dress rehearsal for the real thing!

Task #2: Invite guests to your 20time TED Talk

  • Please share the 20time TED Talk evite with family, friends, interviewees, etc. who you would like to attend your TED Talk.

Both tasks are due by Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 at 8:30am

Assignment #14: TED Talk Slideshow, TED Talk Update & Memorization, and TED Talk Invites

Please complete the 3 homework tasks listed below by Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017.

Task #1: Create and submit your 20time TED Talk Slideshow to the 20time Workspace

20time TED Talk Slideshow Requirements

  • Your opening slide must include: the RDS crest, an updated HMW question, and your first and last name
  • A maximum of 5 slides (unless you have received permission for more from your 20time facilitator)
  • A maximum of 1 sentence per a slide
  • No transitions or sound please

Task #2: Update and starting memorizing your 20time TED Talk

  • Take into consideration any feedback you received during today’s breakout session and update your 20time TED Talk to include this.
  • After completing your TED Talk slideshow, you might find that you want/need to add more to your 20time TED Talk to create a more seamless presentation. Update your TED Talk to include these edits.
  • Practice your TED Talk and memorize as much as you can, as next week you will be presenting your TED Talk and slideshow to your group!

Task #3: Invite guests to your 20time TED Talk

  • Please share the 20time TED Talk Evite with family, friends, interviewees, etc. who you would like to attend your TED Talk.

All 3 tasks are due by: Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 at 8:30am

Assignment #13: TED Talk Speech Final Draft

Please write the final draft of your 20time TED Talk (due Tuesday, May 16th, 2017).

TED Talk Final Draft Requirements:

  • To start, read through your 20time TED Talk Feedback document and reflect on which areas of your TED Talk are in need of the most improvement/revisions
  • Consult the 20time TED Talk rubrics to ensure that you’re aiming for success (keep in mind that both your written presentation & oral presentation count towards your LA mark)
  • Seek assistance ASAP, from your 20time facilitator, if you’re need of help with preparing the final draft of your 20time TED Talk

Due: Tuesday, May 16th, 2017 at 8:30am (be sure to hit “submit” to hand this in on time).

Assignment #12: TED Talk Speech First Draft

Please write the first draft of your 20time TED Talk (due Wednesday, May 10th, 2017).

TED Talk Draft Requirements:

  • Please create your the TED Talk speech in the provided TED Talk Speech document found on the 20time Workspace
  • When writing your speech, please follow the 20time TED Talk Framework as outlined on Slide #11 of this week’s slide deck
  • Consult the 20time TED Talk rubrics to ensure that you’re aiming for success (keep in mind that both your written presentation & oral presentation count towards your LA mark)
  • Seek assistance early, from your 20time facilitator if you’re need of help with writing your 20time TED Talk
  • Remember that you can deliver an amazing TED Talk, even if you have not developed a successful “product” prototype

Due: Wednesday, May 10th, 2017 at 8:30am (be sure to hit “submit” to hand this in on time).

Assignment #11: Personal Productivity

This week’s homework, comprises of two independent tasks:

  • To push your “product” prototype forward as much as you can, as future 20time Sessions will be focussed primarily on your 20time TED Talk.
  • To meet the weekly goals that you have co-constructed with your 20time Facilitator.

*While there is no homework to “hand-in” this week, you should be prepared to show your 20time facilitator how you have pushed your “product” prototype forward and to speak to how you met your weekly goals.

Due on Wednesday, May 3rd during our 20time Session.

Assignment #10: Blog or Vlog Entry

Please write(record) a blog(vlog) entry to reflect on the current development of your 20time Project.

Blogging Prompts:

  • Reflect on some of the constructive criticism you received during your “Product” Prototype Show and Tell.
  • Reflect on the information and knowledge you gained from conducting your expert/ empathy interviews.
  • Reflect on the work you need and plan to do over the next 5 weeks to wrap up 20time, prior to your 20time TED Talk.

Blog/Vlog Requirements:

  • minimum of 150 words in length (2 minute Vlog)
  • needs to be posted on your Google Site (be sure to edit your written work before hitting publish/ and to write a script and practice before uploading a vlog)
  • please include a minimum of 3 related pieces of media content with captions
  • Please submit a copy of this week’s entry to the 20time Workspace

Due no later than Wednesday, April 26th @ 8:30am.

Assignment #9: 20time Goals/ Project Checklist/ "Product" Prototype Show and Tell

Part 1: Set 20time Goals for the Week/ Update your 20time Project Development Checklist (due April 12th)

  • With the assistance of your 20time facilitator please set a few 20time Goals for the upcoming week
  • Continue working through your 20time Project Development Checklist, and submit your most up to date checklist by Tuesday, April 11th @ 8:30am
  • To access the 20time Project Development Checklist please visit the 20time Workspace at www.mystudentdashboard.com

Due no later than Wednesday, April 12th @ 8:30am.


Part 2 - Part 2: “Product” Prototype Show and Tell (due April 19th)

  • During our 20time Session on Friday, April 21st we will having a “Product” Prototype Show and Tell within our small breakout groups. Each student will be required to show off their “Product” Prototype and to tell the group a bit about it
  • Over the next two weeks it is imperative that you continue (or begin) creating your “Product” Prototype. This will look different for each one of you depending on your 20time Project (it could be developing your app, planning out your concert details, launching your Instagram account, recording your video/podcast, designing your blueprint, coordinating your event, etc.)
  • By next Wednesday, April 19th, please submit the “Product” Prototype Show and Tell form found on the 20time Workspace at www.mystudentdashboard.com

Due no later than Wednesday, April 19th @ 8:30am.

Assignment #8: 20time Project Development Checklist/ Blog or Vlog Entry

Part 1 - 20time Project Development Checklist (due Wednesday, April 5th, 2017 @ 8:30am):

  • Please work your way through as many items on the 20time Project Development checklist as you can. Be sure to speak to your 20time facilitator if you have questions or need help.
  • To access the 20time Project Development Checklist please visit the 20time Workspace at www.mystudentdashboard.com

Part 2 - Blog or Vlog Entry (due Wednesday, April 5th, 2017 @ 8:30am):

Part 1 - Google Site Peer Assessment (due Wednesday, March 1st, 2017):

  • Please click here to complete your Google Site Peer Assessment (to see who you've been assigned to assess please refer to our Session #6 Slidedeck: Slides 19-22)

Part 2 - 20time Elevator Pitch (due Friday, March 10th, 2017):

  • Please record and upload your 20time Elevator Pitch your 20time Google Site by Friday, March 10th, 2017. Don't forget to post a copy of your video transcript below your video.

Elevator Pitch Requirements:

  • 30-60 seconds in length
  • should concisely outline your problem & “solution”
  • follows the “Key Components” outlined in "The Let's Talk 20time" Slidedeck (Slide #16)
  • include an Elevator Pitch transcript below your 20time Elevator Pitch video

Assignment #6: Possible Expert/ Empathy Interviewees

*Please complete this assignment using the document labelled Possible Expert/Empathy Interviewees found in your 20time Google Drive Folder.

Expert Interviewees:

  • Please compose a list of 3-5 experts that you plan to contact for an expert interview. These individuals need to be experts who are related to your 20time Project field.

Empathy Interviewees:

  • Please compose a list of 3-5 individuals who you plan to contact for an empathy interview. These individuals needs to be people who can empathize with the problem you’re addressing in your 20time Project.

Please submit the assignment above to the 20time Project Dropbox no later than Friday, February 24th, 2017.

Assignment #5: Published Site/Hyperlinked HMW & Blog/Vlog Entry

Part 1- Google Site/ Hyperlinked HMW (due Monday, February 13th, 2017):

  • Publish your Google Site
  • In a Google Doc, create a hyperlinked How Might We Statement (the link is your 20time Google Site); please note that your 20time Project HMW should encompass your "problem" and your "product"

Part 2 - Blog/ Vlog Entry (due Wednesday, February 15th, 2017):

Please write (record) a blog (vlog) entry to reflect on your iterations during this week's 20time session.

  • How many of the Research & Development steps did you make it through during this week's session? Are you feeling challenged by any of these steps? Which steps did you find the easiest to complete?
  • What are some concerns, questions, or ideas that you're currently working through in your 20time Project?
  • What are the next steps for researching and developing your 20time Project further?

Blog/ Vlog Requirements

  • minimum of 150 words in length (2 minute vlog)
  • needs to be posted on your Google Site (please be sure to edit your written work before hitting publish/ and to write a script and practice before uploading a vlog)
  • please include a minimum of 3 pictures/ videos (with captions) that relate to your blog/ vlog entry
  • blog entry is dated

A blog/vlog entry is due no later than Wednesday, February 15th, 2017.

Assignment #4: Blog Entry & Re-Submit Project Proposal

Please write a blog entry to reflect on your experience developing (and iterating) your 20time Project Proposal. Be sure to explain why you’re excited to launch your 20time Project and the next steps you need to take to get started!

Blog Requirements:

  • minimum of 100 words in length
  • needs to be posted on your Google Site (feel free to create in a Google Doc first to take advantage of Spelling/ Grammar check)
  • must include a minimum of 3 pictures (don’t forget to include photo captions)

Re-Submit Project Proposal:

Both assignments above are due no later than Wednesday, February 8th, 2017.

Assignment #3: 20time Project Proposal

Please fill out the 20time Project Proposal template found in your 20time Student Folder on Google Drive.

A few things to note:

  • Your 20time facilitators are here to help, please come see us if you need support or clarification.
  • The 20time Project Proposal is due no later than Wednesday, February 1st.
  • Please submit your 20time Project Proposal to the 20time Project Dropbox. Click HERE for easy access!

P.S. While there is no blog assignment this week, feel free to write a blog to reflect on today’s session. As well, please continue to add pictures, videos and stories to your Google Site!

Assignment #2: Blog Entry - Developing a 20time Project Idea Using Design Thinking

Please write a blog entry to reflect on your experience using the Design Thinking process to develop a 20time Project idea.

Blog Requirements

  • minimum of 100 words in length
  • needs to be posted on your Google Site (feel free to create your blog directly on your site or alternatively upload a Google Doc)
  • please include a minimum of 3 pictures from your Design Thinking workbook (don’t forget to include a caption for each picture)

Please post on your Google Site no later than Wednesday, January 25th.

Assignment #1: Passions & Problems

Please create a Google Doc which includes the following:

  • A list of 5 personal passions.
  • A list of 5 problems/ challenges in the world that you wish you could change.

When complete, please submit it to the 20time Project Dropbox.

Please submit no later than Wednesday, January 18th, 2017
