The Discipleship Retreat takes place at The Way of Holiness Retreat Center in Hinton, AB, on Friday May 29- Monday June 1, 2026. The Retreat Center is located near Hinton in a mountainous region. It provides dorm style rooms with 2-3 people in a room, fantastic meals, and a beautiful, quiet location.
We plan to travel to Hinton by way of the Icefields parkway, with stops at the David Thompson Resort on Abraham lake, at Athabasca Glacier, Horseshoe Lake, and in Jasper. We will return by way of Drayton Valley. During the retreat we will also visit Jarvis Lake, where swimming may be an option (if we can guarantee a certified lifeguard), and hiking is available.
This retreat is designed for students in grades 9-12 who are serious about growing in their faith. Talks will be given by adults who have been living their lives as Catholics for years, and who have wisdom to share on how to live your life as a disciple. Students will be challenged to make their faith life a real priority, and will have the opportunity to grow closer to God.
To register for this event, please fill in the attached permission form and return it to Peter by May 22, 2026. Please note that this retreat is very likely to fill up, and spots will be allotted first come first serve.
Cost: The cost for this retreat is only $150/person.
To Bring: The Way of Holiness provides beds and bedding, so all that students will require are their personal items. We will spend a lot of time outside, including time in the mountain parks, so please bring outdoor clothes! There will be a lot of free time at the retreat center, so students may wish to bring books or board games, but no electronic games. Students will want snacks and lunch while traveling and spending money for shopping in Jasper.
Transportation: We will be leaving Mother Teresa School in Sylvan Lake at 9:00am on Friday May 29, 2026 and picking up students at St Dominic High School in Rocky Mountain House at 10:00am. We will drop students off again at 4:00pm in Rocky Mountain House and 5:00pm in Sylvan Lake on Monday June 1, 2026.
