Proctor - We take our science seriously........or not.
Video of the Week! Minute to Win It Friday Challenge.
Traditionally, students earned A’s, B’s, and C’s. Why switch to E, M, A, B, N? Why doesn’t homework "count" towards my grade? Why am I assessed on my Habits of Work? Transferable Skills?
I answer these questions with a question…
"What is the purpose of grading and the meaning behind grades?"
My first answer is "ALL students can learn!" My second answer is that effective feedback on student learning can increase student achievement. Therefore, the emphasis of Proficiency Based Grading (PBG) is on student learning and not "grades." “Education should not be about the accumulation of points for a letter, but the accumulation and meaningful application of knowledge.”
