Educational Philosophy

A graduate of Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1997. Furthering my education, I chose to become a secondary high school teacher, taking courses through Gardner-Webb University to obtain my teaching license. After two years of teaching in Lincoln County Schools, I was given the opportunity to return to my high school alma mater, the ERHS home of the Cavaliers, to teach English. Since that time, I have received my National Board Certification in English as well.

My philosophy is centered around the idea that all students are capable and can succeed. In this ever-changing world, students need to be prepared in a variety of ways, especially communicating both in written word and in speech. Students need to become aware of their global community, of its past and present, while learning to impact the world in a positive manner as productive citizens for its future. It is my hope to have a small part within student development and achievement--to see them succeed as I know they can.
