Foundations of Algebra 2 is a local course designed to prepare students for an entry -level college mathematics course. Students enrolled in Foundations of Algebra 2 Local will spend a considerable amount of time in the first semester exploring concepts and skills connected to Algebra 1 and Algebra II shared standards. Students will continue to develop algebraic reasoning, concepts, and skills by applying the functional relationships of linear, quadratic, exponential, and inverse models to the solution of real-life problems. Students will use modeling to solve real-world problems including both science and business applications. In addition to this students will study concepts of statistics of the Algebra II R course. Students will engage in inquiry experiences to make sense of mathematics while employing the Standards for Mathematical Practice. The curricular resources listed below include resources curated using Jmap, EngageNY, Illustrative Math, East Upper school created resources, and “Others” teacher created resources. We have suggested eMATHinstruction as an additional resource since it provides free lessons and videos to support student learning. Please follow the guidelines on their website.
