Ablaze

Flames lick at my scorched frame as I attempt to pull the bloody pieces of my ragged body to safety.  Fire erupts all around, trapping me with the mutilated chunks of my own melting flesh. The revolting smell of burning cuts deep into my sinuses and penetrates my brain. My scalp stings. Hair and clothing catch fire fast, so only my mangled limbs are left to be consumed by the raging ball of fury. My eyes water and my vision blurs. I gag, as the smog clings to the inside of my throat, choking me. The fiery disease crawls up my weak figure, inflicting its lethal brand upon my debilitated body. The sheer, wispy smoke haunts me like a ghost I can’t shake and I feel myself flaking away. My taste buds blaze red-hot, as my skin drips from my burnt bones and my blood boils. All around me the decrepit house glows bright as its frail walls crumble around me. I imagine my parents' numb faces as they gaze at my ashy, discolored figure getting wheeled away. I don’t feel pain anymore, I don't feel anything. My charred nerves are too far destroyed and gone to feel alive.
