Summer Rain

In the summer rain,

I think about the days I have left behind,

back when I didn’t know why the birds chirped,

or why you could never build up a man made of sand without watching him fall apart,

I remember that summer when you told me everything that had happened,

I knew to be careful with my words,

To let the rain wash away all the pain I would never be able to touch.

We sat in wet grass the whole summer until the sun came back again,

The rain had done its job and you no longer needed someone like me to listen.

You found your Autumn Sun to watch you beam,

As I was left in the soggy grass of the summer rain

I remember our solemn song,

When the water begins to beat rhythmically on my roof,

In my summer rain,

I think of the man you used to be,

I’m glad to have been a part of your story,

I wish I could've stayed until the end,

I always waited for our Sunny Summer days,

But for now, I reminisce of our times in the rain.
