Do you ever find yourself in a mood where you need to be cheered up? What about where you needed to let all of our emotions out? Or maybe where you needed to relate with someone about something that happened to you? Well, I have a perfect solution to all of these circumstances. MUSIC! (Not just any kind of music, pop music!)
Remember when I said that pop music can be great if you need to be cheered up? Well, I have an example for that. Say you are having a bad day, and you don’t like to be sad. Listen to a nice cheery song. Some suggestions of mine are Single Ladies by Beyoncé, Problem by Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea, Flowers by Miley Cyrus, and Karma by Taylor Swift. Those are only a few of my suggestions. (I have an entire 6 hour playlist of songs that are good to listen to when you are feeling down, but that wouldn’t be an appropriate idea to put in an article.)
When I said if you need to let your emotions out, you could listen to pop music, I wasn’t kidding. It can actually be therapeutic to sing to songs that fit your mood. If you are sad, and you listen to sad music, you can just be sad with the music. Trust me, it works.
“I love to listen to pop music because it puts me in a good mood.” Says Avi Grile. See? I’m not the only person who listens to music to put me in a good mood! Another person who agrees with her, is Kenallyn Mcguire. She says, “Pop is so much fun to dance or sing to and sometimes it just puts you in a good mood.”
This is the album cover of The Heart Wants What It Wants!
I realize that I was a little vague when I said, “maybe where you needed to relate with someone about something that happened to you,” but I will explain. Say you have had something happen in your life that is really sad. I’m going to use this as an example. Say you’re going through a break up. Maybe this person wasn’t the best person to you. Yet, you still want them. There is a song by Selena Gomez called The Heart Wants What It Wants. What she says in the song is basically saying that it doesn’t make logical sense to want this person, but I can’t control the fact that I want them. That is a song that I have seen people relate to a lot. Well, I have seen some people relate to it. I just think It is really cool that with pop music, well one, you can actually understand what they're saying, but two, you can relate to it.
I'm just saying, I don’t think metal will put you into as good of a mood as pop. I mean, maybe you are in LOVE with metal, but still it might not pump you up the way Taylor Swift would. I personally have no idea about how blast beats, screaming/growling, and intense guitar could put you in as good of a mood as acoustic guitar, piano, literal singing (not growling), and drums. Maybe I’m off, but it doesn’t seem possible.
